The Wine
Old Vine Zinfandel pays homage to our farmers who believed in Zinfandel and held these vineyards for decades, and in some cases, over a century.
Sourced from different vineyards throughout the Sierra Foothills AVA region, it composes an elegant red wine similar to what was likely produced here in the early days before Zinfandel wine became a jammy fruit bomb. A well-balanced, layered, and seamless wine – offering tons of fresh blackberry and raspberry flavors wrapped in a bracing texture of fine-grained tannins and bright acidity.
Production
Each vineyard, being of different age and grown on different soils and elevations, is picked on separate days allowing a perfect phenolic ripeness, and fermented separately, letting it express itself.
In addition to Zinfandel, we co-ferment up to 5% Barbera from our estate, adding a natural acidity to the wine.
The Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with native yeast for up to 12 days.
It is aged in Barrels for up to 18 months, between 15% and 25% New.
