The Wine
The Old Vine Zinfandel is a tribute to the farmers who maintained these vineyards for many years, even up to a century. It is made from various vineyards in the Sierra Foothills AVA area and produces a refined red wine that resembles the original Zinfandel wine before it became overly sweet.
This wine is well-balanced, with multiple layers and a smooth texture that offers a refreshing taste of blackberry and raspberry flavors, complemented by a sharp acidity and fine-grained tannins.
Production
Each vineyard, being of different age and grown on different soils and elevations, is picked on separate days allowing a perfect phenolic ripeness, and fermented separately, letting it express itself.
In addition to Zinfandel, we co-ferment up to 5% Barbera from our estate, adding a natural acidity to the wine.
The Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with native yeast for up to 12 days.
It is aged in Barrels for up to 18 months, between 15% and 25% New.
