Welcome to Painted Fields Wines
a blend of visionaries
Painted Fields is an expression of the hard work behind Andis Wines critically-acclaimed winemaking team – led by consulting winemakers Philippe Melka and Maayan Koschitzky; in partnership with viticulturist and winemakers, Mark Fowler and Lorenzo Muslia.
All with one mission in mind. To handcraft unique blends that cultivate a distinct sense of place. A tribute to the land’s heritage and the visionary grape growers who originally planted roots on the diverse soils of the Sierra Foothills.

“Great wines taste like they come from somewhere. Lesser wines taste as they could be from anywhere.”
~ Lorenzo Muslia

Curse of Knowledge
A Bordeaux style blend, was created to change Sierra Foothills’ perception and immerse in a new dimension of perfectly balanced, well structured, high quality wine. The intense ruby color and a sensational bouquet of dried violet, black cherry, fresh herbs, and cocoa powder will catch yourattention. A balanced mid palate, generous, and round due to the velvety tannins with a lingering finish of dark berries and black licorice.

Old Vine Zinfandel
Sourced from different vineyards throughout the Sierra Foothills AVA region to compose a beautiful, elegant red wine similar to what was likely produced here in the early days before Zinfandel wine became a jammy fruit bomb. A well balanced, layered, and seamless wine offering tons of fresh blackberry and raspberry flavors wrapped in a bracing texture of fine grained tannins and bright acidity.

Cuvée Blanc
A refreshing wine that inspires the imagination, transporting you to the Mediterranean Coasts. This wine reveals classic aromatic notes of lemon zest, green apples, fresh white peach, and acacia flower petals. It shows harmony, lively acidity, and dryness with wonderful fruit flavors accompanied by minerality.

Sierra Côtes
Sierra Côtes is a wonderful expression of mountain fruit grown throughout the Sierra Foothills wine region. The days are hot; still, the nights are cooler – creating a perfect Mediterranean micro-climate for delicate Rhone-style grapes like Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvèdre. This provides the ideal ripening in the vines without the loss of acidity.

organic sustainable farming

The soils in the Sierra Foothills are special. The microclimates and varying elevations hide unique opportunities; capable of growing a vast selection of varietals, including grapes traditionally considered obscure to California.
Our winemaking team pays homage to this land, using both traditional and innovative techniques – always keeping palettes fresh with an “open mind,” yet never delineating from our quest to handcraft world class wines that are a pure expression of the soil.
Or as Phillippe likes to say, “finding the voice of the vineyard through its terroir…”
